England goalkeeper Rachel Brown will be taking to the Turf Moor pitch at Burnley
England goalkeeper Rachel Brown will be taking to the Turf Moor pitch at Burnley FC a week early as she takes part in a photo call with the men's team on Thursday...
Rachel, who lives just ten minutes from the ground, is a lifelong Clarets supporter and she is helping to promote the England women's international being staged at the club on Thursday 4 September. England will face Australia for the first time in their history as part of their preparations for the 2005 UEFA European Championship Finals, which England is hosting.
The game will kick-off at 7.15pm and will be televised live on Sky Sports.
After taking part in the photo call with the whole Clarets squad, Rachel will be lending a hand to the club's Football in the Community department for some coaching sessions with young local male and female footballers as well as taking part in some media interviews.
There have been two enforced changes to the England squad ahead of next week's international, with two stand-by players having been called into the camp.
Doncaster Rovers Belles winger Karen Burke has come in to replace the Sammy Britton, who sustained an injury playing for Everton last Sunday, while Fulham's Corinne Yorsten will join in place of Laura Bassett, who has university exams.
There will be a full programme of fixtures for England players this weekend in The FA Nationwide Premier League National Division. The squad will meet up at the team hotel following the action, where Hope Powell's medical staff will be hoping there will be no injuries.
Striker Kelly Smith will be flying from her Philadelphia base later this week for her first England match since April 2002 - the 4-1 World Cup qualifier victory at Holland, in which she scored. Kristy Moore - the Australian born England international - will be flying in from Norway, where she has been playing for Floya in their summer league.
Tickets are on sale for the match now and are available from the Burnley FC ticket office on 0870 443 1914. Entry costs £3 for adults and £1 for concessions. Special group discount rates are available.
