Bloomfield Road regular Scott Cardle looks ahead to U21s' game v Northern Ireland

England v Northern Ireland
An Under-21 International

Bloomfield Road, Blackpool FC

Light welterweight boxer Scott Cardle is excited by the prospect of England’s Under-21s playing at the home of his beloved Blackpool.

Cardle is currently preparing for a bout with Joe Elfidh in Nottingham on 17 November, just four days after Stuart Pearce’s side take on Northern Ireland at Bloomfield Road.

“It’s a great occasion for the club and for the town,” Cardle told the Blackpool Gazette.

“It’s a great place to watch football and the atmosphere is always brilliant. I boxed for the first time in Blackpool recently and had great support.

“Had I not been in training I would definitely have been there as some of the lads on show will become Premier League stars in a couple of years.”

Cardle signed promotional terms with Matchroom Sports earlier this year and made his professional bow on the undercard of the Kel Brook-Matthew Hatton fight in March.

He has fought a further six times in 2012 and wants to maintain his unbeaten record.

He added: “Training has been fantastic.

“I’ve been kept really busy by my promoter Eddie Hearn with seven fights in eight months on huge bills, and I have two more this year, so I hope to be 9-0 by the end of 2012 and fight for a title early next year.”

Fans can get tickets to watch England’s young stars for the terrific price of just £10 for adults, £5 for children and a family ticket (two adults and two children) is only £25.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 0844 847 1953 or online at
