An exclusive Mash Up session will be held at Tuesday's Under-21s international
Football Mash Up players will be gracing the same pitch as England’s Under-21s stars next week for an exclusive session at Bloomfield Road.
Vauxhall and The FA will be joining forces for a Football Mash Up during half-time in the Young Lions meeting
with Northern Ireland in Blackpool on Tuesday night.
Young players already taking part in the programme will be joined by winners from the Blackpool Gazette and Shoot Magazine in a once in a lifetime opportunity at the home of the Seasiders.
And, as well as taking part in the Football Mash Up session, they will also win four tickets to watch the home nations Under-21 international as Stuart Pearce’s team begin to build for
next summer’s European Championship Finals in Israel.
Football Mash Up, a joint initiative of The FA and England Team Sponsor and FA Youth Partner Vauxhall, is aimed at reducing the drop out of players aged between 14 and 17 years old.
The sessions, like the one at half-time in Blackpool, are focused on tackling the issue head on by offering a recreational form of football in after-school clubs. Football Mash Up sessions are played in quality small-sided facilities and run by specialist FA Vauxhall Youth officers.
Youngsters can sign up for a ten-week block of sessions, which will cater for every ability and fitness level. It is hoped that these sessions will inspire teenagers to get back into affiliated football in either small-sided or 11v11 formats.
