After being named in Stuart Pearce's squad to face Slovenia, Manchester United forward Fraizer Campbell says he can't wait for the chance to return to Hull City after helping them into the Premier League while on loan last season.

The 20-year-old scored 15 goals in 32 starts for the Tigers during an incredible season and will return to the KC Stadium on Tuesday as part of the England Under-21s squad who face Slovenia in a friendly.

Campbell, who came on as substitute in The FA Community Shield on Sunday, admits that he is looking forward to being reunited with the Hull City faithful who roared their team to the top flight last term.

Campbell told TheFA.com: "The fans were great right from my first home game at the KC Stadium.

"They were fantastic right through to the play-off final at Wembley and hopefully I'll get a good reception going back there. I'm really grateful to the fans at Hull for the way they treated me."

Hull reached the top division for the first time in their history thanks to a thunderous volley from Campbell's strike partner Dean Windass in the play-off final at Wembley, and Campbell says he enjoyed every minute of his time there.

"It was brilliant," Campbell admitted. "It was history for Hull City and everything about it was great, I really enjoyed myself down there last season.

"When you go on loan you don't know what to expect but it was a dream loan move and it turned out great."

Towards the end of the season Campbell made his debut for Stuart Pearce's Under-21s side, and says he was delighted to get the opportunity.

Campbell explained: "It was great to get some recognition for what I was doing at the time.

"I wasn't really thinking about the Under-21s but it was an aim in the back of my mind and it was fantastic to get on the pitch for England and show what I'm about."
