England Under-21s will face Wales at Ninian Park in the first leg of their tough Euro 2009 play-off.
Stuart Pearce's side were drawn against Brian Flynn's Welsh Under-21s in Friday's draw in Malmo, with a place at the Finals in Sweden up for grabs.
On Tuesday afternoon, the FA of Wales announced that Cardiff City will play host to their home match on Friday 10 October, with the return in England four days later.
"When you're involved in matches like this, what you do in the first leg won't necessarily dictate what happens overall," said Pearce. "You can't go through on the first night."
He added: "Whenever the British Isles teams meet there is always that special edge to the game. Couple that with the stakes being so high, and it will make for two very hard games."
