Introduction to England U19s
England's Under-19 side contains some of the most exciting players on England's books. Some of the players, such as Portsmouth's Gary O'Neil and Newcastle United's Jermaine Jenas, have already broken into the first team at their respective clubs, while others ramain just on the cusp.
Martin Hunter's team will take part in the UEFA European Under-19 Championships this July and, having named a strong squad which includes Arsenal's electric winger Jermaine Pennant, Martin will be hopeful of an impressive showing.
The Championships take place in Norway and we'll have a reporter in the camp to bring you all the latest news and views from inside the camp.
Last year, the England Under-18s narrowly lost their play off against Poland, who then went on to win the final tournament, which was held in Finland in July 2001.
Links and progress between this age group and the Under-21 are extremely close, as was demonstrated by Jermaine Pennant, who played games both for the Under 19s and Under 21s in the same week.
Martin will continue to coach the Under-19s this year.
