England U18 defender signs two-year deal at Loftus Road
England U18 defender Sam Magri has signed a two-year at Queens Park Rangers.
The centre-back, who has captained England at U16 level and was part of the squad that reached the quarter finals of last year’s U17 World Cup, joined the Hoops after being released by Portsmouth.
Magri told his new club’s official website: “QPR are really going places as a club and I’m looking forward to writing the next chapter of my career here.
“I just want to keep learning and progressing as a player. The new U21 league is a great platform for young players like myself and I can’t wait to meet my new team-mates and start playing.”
QPR’s Head Coach of Elite Development, Marc Bircham, said: "I have seen Sam play quite a few times and he is a player of potential. He is an excellent addition for us.
"His arrival is an example of what we are trying to do as a football club. The first team are working hard to raise the standard of their squad and we are doing the same at Academy level.
"Sam enjoys the art of defending but he is also comfortable on the ball and I think every modern day centre back needs to have that now.”
Magri has 22 caps for the U17s, seven caps for the U16s and he made his U18 bow away to Slovakia last November.
