John Peacock selects experienced group of U17s.
The Algarve Tournament
13-16 February 2010
Portugal John Peacock has named his England U17 squad that will travel to Portugal next month to compete in the Algarve Tournament.
England will take on France, Ukraine and the hosts over four days in a round-robin group as they aim to put the finishing touches to their preparations for the Elite Round of the UEFA European U17 Championship, which kicks-off in March.
After cruising through the first stage of Euro qualifying with three wins from three, Peacock’s side now face Slovakia, Sweden and Malta for a place in the Finals this summer. The Elite Round will be staged in England between 27 March and 1 April.
There is one new name in the squad for the Algarve Tournament as Tottenham’s Harry Kane receives his first U17 call-up. The rest of the squad have largely been together since last season’s successful Victory Shield campaign.
