England Learning Disability Team ready for European Championship in Sweden

2012 INAS European Championship
Sweden

England’s Learning Disability Team are preparing for their own Euro Finals over the next ten days as they head to Sweden for the INAS European Championship.

Head Coach, Chris Dowhan, will take a strong 17-man squad for the tournament which begins in Gävle on Sunday and runs through to 17 June 2012. The team are looking to improve upon their last showing at the Championship in 2008 where they lost narrowly in the Final to Holland.

For many in the squad, this will be their first taste of a major INAS Championship but despite this, the squad head into the tournament with good previous experience of winning competitions having won the Home Nations Tournament for the last two years.

England have been kept apart from Holland, Germany and France in the draw for the group stages but will face tricky games against Turkey (10 June, 5pm), hosts Sweden (11 June, 5.30pm) and Poland (13 June, 5pm) to secure a place in the semi-finals which are scheduled for 15 June.

The third place play-off and Final take place on Sunday 17 June. All the games will take place at Stromvällen, home of Gefle IF of the Swedish Premier League.

The squad in full is
Kevin Ginever (GK), Josh Walne, Craig Allen, Matt Edwards, Junior Bilal, George Simmons, Chris McGinty, Lerone Plummer, George Chukwuma, Simon Reid, Royce Greenidge, Reece Gallagher, Mitchell Harrison, Connoll Farrell, Babak Khorrami, Sleiman Mbarouk
