Former England defender gets coaching from the Three Lions Blind Team.

Former England defender Danny Mills was back on the training pitch with the Three Lions this week, but it wasn't with Fabio Capello's men.

Instead, the left back who made 19 appearances for England between 2001 and 2004, was at the Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford where Tony Larkin's team were preparing at the start of a busy year in which they will compete in the IBSA World Games in April and the European Championship in July.

The ex-Leeds United and Middlesbrough man was taking part in the session for the BBC's Late Kick-Off programme, and after training headed back to the players' digs where he chatted with some of the England stars.

“There are a few guys who were down there who two years ago weren’t even involved in the squads. They didn’t know much about blind football and didn’t think they could play blind football.” said striker Jonathan Gribbin.

Later in the evening Mills was back at the RNC as England took on the Great Britain blind team in front of a large crowd. But despite losing 2-1, Mills was enlightened by the experience.

"I've got so much admiration for those guys," said Mills, "They are so aware of everything, their ability on the ball is phenomenal. Such fine skills and when you try it you're so disorientated.

"You have this fear that you're going to hit something. These guys run flat out they are at full speed all the time. What they are doing is incredible."
