Paul Fairclough names England C squad for vital Irish Republic clash.
Republic of Ireland v England C
International Challenge Trophy
Waterford United FC
Wednesday 26 May 7.45pm England C Manager Paul Fairclough has named his side for tonight’s opening International challenge Trophy qualifier against the Irish Republic in Waterford.
Fairclough knows that since Hungary withdrew from the competition it going to be almost impossible to qualify from Group B as the best runner-up.
“Both myself and my Irish counterpart Pat Doolin will be fully aware that tonight’s game is crucial. A defeat for either side will probably mean that a semi-final place will be beyond them and I expect the game to be a very tense affair” Fairclough stated.
Two players from outside the Conference top flight make the starting line-up. Alfreton’s Kyle McFadzean retains the captain’s armband after an impressive performance last Saturday in Edinburgh and he is joined by Ilkeston Town’s Amari Morgan-Smith, a late call-up to the squad following the withdrawal of Matt Green who picked up a knock in the Conference Promotion Final.
