FA Chief Executive, Ian Watmore, praises England's Euro winners.
Sweden 0-2 EnglandUEFA European Women's U19 ChampionshipThe Final4pm BST, Saturday 25 July 2009BelarusThe England Women's U19 team were congratulated by FA Chief Executive, Ian Watmore, on their victory in the Final of the UEFA European Women's U19 Championship.Watmore said: "On behalf of everyone at The FA, I would like to congratulate Mo Marley and the England Women's U19s squad for their fantastic achievement in winning the UEFA European Championship in Belarus this afternoon."The girls have produced some terrific performances during the tournament and we are delighted that England will be bringing home a European trophy for the first time in many years, and also a first ever title at this age group."The girls were obviously all delighted with what they have achieved and rightly so. They have also given real encouragement to the England Women’s Senior team for the European Championships in Finland in August."Meanwhile, Sue Hough, Chair of The FA Women’s Committee, said:"Mo Marley and the girls should be very proud of their success this afternoon and we would like to congratulate all the staff and players that are out in Belarus."Reaching any Final is a huge achievement in itself but everyone is delighted that we have been able to go one step further this time and be able to return home with the trophy.
