Hobbs' Hungary call-up

England Women's U19s Head Coach Mo Marley has called up Nicola Hobbs after first-choice goalkeeper Carly Telford saw her involvement in the UEFA European Women's U19 Championship ended by a fractured collarbone.

The Sunderland goalkeeper who has 16 U21 caps landed heavily on her left shoulder when successfully keeping out a low drive in yesterday's opening 3-1 victory against Scotland.

Telford, who is due to take up a football scholarship in America directly after the tournament, felt the bone snap and the fracture was confirmed at a local hospital in Zalaegerszeg.

Hobbs flew out to Budapest today and is expected to provide cover, with Danielle Hill stepping up to claim the No.1 jersey.

Hill impressed with her goalkeeping for Everton last season when she deputised for the injured Rachel Brown, and earned rave reviews for her rearguard battle against Charlton in last season's FA Women's Cup Final.

Hobbs meanwhile is the older sister of promising Lincoln City 16 year old centre-back Jack Hobbs, who has been having an extended trial recently at Anfield, and who earlier in the Summer was linked with a £500,000 move to Arsenal.

England are next in Group B action against Russia on 22 July ahead of their concluding pool game versus France three days later.
