Anton Ferdinand has set his sights on matching big brother Rio and qualifying for a major summer tournament with England.
Ferdinand will be a key player as the Under-21 side attempt to defend a 1-0 first leg lead against Germany in Leverkusen on Tuesday and reach the UEFA European Under-21s Championship Finals.
Rio got his first taste of an international tournament at the World Cup in France and Anton believes going to Holland with the Young Lions would help his own game develop.
"My brother went to the 1998 World Cup and I think you can see what it did for him, because in the next two competitions he was probably England's best player," the West Ham United defender explained.
"That little bit of experience he got as a younger player has probably stood him in great stead for the future and hopefully it would be the same for me.
"I have spoken to him about what it is like to play in a tournament for England, but I want to experience it for myself and hopefully we can finish off the job on Tuesday.
"We are in a great position, but the game isn't over, although we can now go into the second-leg full of confidence knowing that if we don't concede a goal we will go through."
Under-21 Coach Peter Taylor believes the goal that Leighton Baines scored in the first-leg at Coventry's Ricoh Arena could be vital in determining how England approach the second leg in Leverkusen.
"It will be dangerous for Germany because if they come at us too much we have got so much pace that I really do fancy us to go over there and score a goal," he explained.
"With the likes of Theo Walcott, Wayne Routledge and Gabriel Agbonlahor in the squad it is probably the fastest group of players I have ever had as a manager.
"If we can keep it 0-0 over there for at least half an hour, then maybe Germany will send players forward and we can take advantage of that on the break."
Meanwhile, in the Germany squad, defender Marvin Matip has been ruled out due to concussion. The FC Koln man was injured during a first half clash with his own team mate in Friday's first leg.
Though he continued for the rest of the game, he has been forced out of Tuesday's return. Kaiserslautern's Fabian Schonheim comes in for the 21-year-old.
