England U21 2-2 Germany U21
UEFA European Under-21 Championship, Group 6 Qualifiers

Peter Taylor was delighted with his team's performance, if not the result, after the 2-2 draw at home to Germany.

"In the second half I thought we were absolutely terrific. We were really exciting and produced some really good forward play and we really should have scored five goals, and on another day we probably would have done," he said.

"I'm actually really happy with the way we played but of course the last goal was a very poor goal for us to give away, and I'm sure that, because they are young players, they will learn from the mistakes.

"I'm sure Scott [Carson] is feeling very down at the moment, but I'm sure he will get his confidence back and bounce back.

"That's the best we've played since I returned [as Under-21 coach]. They were very enjoyable to watch and it's just a shame we could not get the third goal.

"Gary O'Neil has a deep cut and he's just getting it checked out at hospital. Milner's also got a cut but it's not as serious, and Nicky Hunt has a dead leg."
