Fresh from the drama of Monday's First Division play-off against Wolves, the pair will be part of Platt's party for the friendly against Serbia and Montenegro and the Euro Qualifier against Slovakia.

"Both players have been impressive in a season full of big games for their Sheffield United," David told TheFA.com.

"They and all of the players will now be looking to follow the example of Gareth Barry who has shown that, if you have quality, consistency and mental strength, you can make the progression from the Under-21s to the Senior international squad."

David will be working with some of the country's most exciting up and coming talents for these two important games.

Although Wolves hero Matt Murray is missing with a hernia problem, the defence boasts Premiership quality of Glenn Johnson, Jay McEverley, and Paul Konchesky, as well as the highly promising young Nottingham Forest defender Michael Dawson.

The midfield is full of the young stars that have set the First Division alight this season. Darren Ambrose (formerly Ipswich, now Newcastle), Steven Sidwell (Reading), Michael Tonge, and Gary O'Neil (Portsmouth) all feature.

Arsenal's Jermaine Pennant comes into the squad on the back of a Premiership hat-trick for the Gunners against Southampton while Saints' own David Prutton is set to return of different kind; the Hull-born player will no doubt be looking forward to stepping out at Kingston Communications Stadium for the game against Serbia and Montenegro.

In terms of strikers, Platt has a multitude of options. Carlton Cole, Darren Bent, Michael Chopra, Jermain Defoe and Bobby Zamora have goals written all over them while Shola Ameobi, with six goals from fifteen caps, is fast emerging as a regular threat at this level.
