Sven released the duo on Sunday evening following discussions with David Platt. The news will be a huge boost to David who will be without both Shola Ameobi and Titus Bramble through suspension and Michael Carrick through injury.

Jeffers' outstanding goalscoring record at Under-21 level makes him the ideal replacement for Ameobi while Jenas' all round game will strengthen the core of the team.

 

"Both Francis and Jermaine are excellent players and ones that I know well," Platt told TheFA.com.

"I'm extremely pleased to have them with us for such a crucial game in our qualification campaign."
