A squad featuring the brightest young stars from the Premiership and Football League has been named for the match against Holland at Walsall on Tuesday 5 September.

Among those included are Chelsea’s Michael Mancienne who was selected on the bench for the Community Shield on Sunday, Lee Cattermole of Middlesbrough – one of the stars of Boro’s run to last season’s UEFA Cup Final - and Liverpool trio Paul Anderson (pictured), Adam Hammill and Craig Lindfield.

The three players were key members of last season’s FA Youth Cup winning team and Lindfield has already created headlines this season by scoring for Liverpool in a pre-season friendly at Crewe.

There will also be plenty of local interest with rising Wolves star Mark Little, Birmingham’s on-loan midfielder Fabrice Muamba and West Brom goalkeeper Luke Daniels alongside Walsall’s Demontagnac in the 18 man squad.

England Under-19 Coach Brian Eastick said: "This game will prove to be a good test for our young players, one in which I am confident they are capable of passing.

"I’m delighted to see that many of the players have started to break into their respective clubs’ first team squads and in some cases playing quite regularly.

"This shows that the opportunities are there for young players if they can perform consistently at a very high level. This will also be mirrored at international level and I’m sure that the new England Head Coach Steve McClaren will be taking an interest in the international development teams."

The Holland match is an important part of England’s preparations as they set out later in the season to qualify for the UEFA U19 European Championships which will be held in Austria during July next year.

Walsall Chief Executive Roy Whalley said: "We are delighted that the Bescot Stadium has been chosen to stage the England versus Holland Friendly International match.

"A number of international fixtures have been played at the Bescot Stadium in recent years, all of them have been well supported and an excellent atmosphere has been created.

"We feel sure that the England and Dutch teams will enjoy playing on the excellent surface here at the Bescot and we are all looking forward to staging a successful event."

Tickets for the match at the Bescot Stadium are just £3 for adults and £1 for children and OAPs if booked in advance. Adult tickets will be £5 on the day. Tickets can be purchased from the Ticket Hotline on 0870 442 0111.
