England Under-17 Head Coach John Peacock is expecting a stern examination when his young Lions meet Turkey at Brentford on Wednesday night.

"They are top quality opposition," warned Peacock. "Turkey have an excellent track record at youth level over the past few years in European football, and we thought it was good to invite them to the tournament this time around."

The game, which kicks-off at 7.30pm, is part of The FA Friendly International Tournament which also involves Portugal and The USA. Peacock knows his charges will be tested to the limit in each of their three games.

"We have some quality European opposition in terms of Turkey and Portugal, and with a team from North America, like USA, it gives us more experience - which can only be a good thing for the future," he added.

"This is ultimately a springboard for the European Championship qualifiers next year, it will be my first look at this group of players and the more tournament experience I can give the players the better.

"There are some very talented players in this squad and I'm just looking forward to seeing them at close hand and working with them in the coming season."

Peacock is expecting an excellent tournament, played at some good grounds and in front of large crowds.

"A lot of the international youth teams really enjoy coming to England to play us because we do put on a good tournament and this will be played at some excellent venues," he said.

"It's not just the stadiums, we're very appreciative of the clubs that host the games. We also tend to get big crowds for these games, and on the continent they are very envious that we can pull in five and six thousand for youth international matches."
