England's international diary for 2005 is closed on Tuesday night as the U17s entertain Turkey at Meadow Lane.

The friendly match is part of John Peacock's team's preparation for the UEFA Championship Elite Group Qualifiers in March and will provide the Young Lions with a great chance to build confidence.

In the starting line-up is Manchester City striker Daniel Sturridge, nephew of QPR's Dean, who scored a brace in England's 2-2 draw with France in Luxembourg last time out.

That game was part of a three-team mini tournament which also saw Peacock's side triumph 1-0 over the hosts thanks to a goal from Sone Aluko. The Birmingham City striker, younger brother of England Women's international Eni Aluko, also starts the match.

"Overall the tournament in Luxembourg was pleasing - and not just because we won it," said Peacock as he looked forward to the game in Nottingham, "it was a good test for the lads."

"We all know it's going to be a real challenge to get a positive result against a side as gifted as Turkey, but we're confident and up for the task."

He added: "It's also the players last chance to impress ahead of January's double header against Denmark in La Manga. Then, of course, we have the UEFA Elite Group games and they'll all be keen to make the final squad for that."
