England lost their final match of the Algarve Tournament after a late penalty denied them a point in Lagos.

However Portugal's 3-0 win over France allowed England to finish in second place, the same as they did in this tournament last year.

England fell behind in the first half after a mix-up in England's defence allowed Norway to take the lead.

England were thankful to substitute Scott Phelan of Everton, who scored the England equaliser sixteen minutes after coming on to replace Andrew Gooding.

After the Three Lions made some good progress down the left wing, the ball was cut in to the box where Phelan finished from eight yards out in the near post area.

However they fell foul to a penalty and John Peacock's England will now be looking forward to the European U17 Championship qualifiers, to be held in this country, in March.
