England 2-1 Italy
Under 17 International Tournament
Priestfield Stadium, Gillingham
01 September 2004
England U17s enjoyed an impressive win over a well-drilled Italy last night in the Pepsi Under-17 International Tournament.
The Three Lions' goals came late in the match through Myles Weston of Charlton Athletic and Blackburn Rovers' Joe Garner.
John Peacock's side were watched by two members of the England coaching staff - Sammy Lee and Ray Clemence, as well as FA Director of Football Development Trevor Brooking.
The win followed the opening match of the tournament in which Portugal narrowly defeated Russia by a single goal.
England now face Russia before taking on the usually-strong Portuguese in their final match.
