England 3-0 Finland
A three-goal victory rounded-off the Algarve Tournament for England's U17s in style as John Peacock's side finished the four-team event unbeaten.
Though hosts Portugal, who England held 0-0 in the opening game on Saturday, finish up top of the group after a last-minute winner in the game against France today, the Three Lions will be delighted with their week's work. Conceding only once in three games, scoring four times and having Shane Paul end up as the tournament's top scorer, is a great achievement for Peacock's charges.
Aston Villa striker Paul hit the first of his two goals in Sunday's 1-1 draw with France and he put England on their way after 22 minutes against Finland this morning.
England were in control for much of the match and despite a couple of chances for the Finland forwards, our boys extended their lead in the closing minutes, finishing off the Finns.
David Wheater, Middlesbrough's tall and commanding defender, made it two in 76, then two minutes from time James Walker made it three. The Charlton Athletic youngster made space for himself in range of the Finnish goal and struck the ball past the helpless 'keeper.
Goals: Shane Paul 22, David Wheater 76, James Walker 78
