Kilmarnock
25 November 2005
England U16 coach Kenny Swain has made a change to his squad to face Scotland at Kilmarnock later this month.
Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Alex Smithies has pulled out of the 18-man squad due to non-football commitments.
In his place comes uncapped 15-year-old Gary Woods, who recently signed for Manchester United from Cambridge United.
Swain's side started the tournament in some style, Jonathan Franks scoring twice in a 4-0 win over Wales 4-0 but that was followed by a 1-0 defeat at home to Northern Ireland a fortnight later.
As a result, England need to beat Scotland in order to give themselves a chance of successfully defending the trophy they won last season, though they will be reliant on the Wales-Northern Ireland match ending in a draw.
