Andriy Shevchenko rolled back the years to fire Ukraine to the top of Group D. After England's 1-1 draw with France, Shevchenko struck twice in the second half to give co-hosts Ukraine a chance of progressing to the last eight.

Shevchenko, 35, remains the hero of Ukraine and even more so after his exploits in the Olympic Stadium. His two goals, in reply to Zlatan Ibrahimovic's opener, will give Roy Hodgson plenty to ponder ahead of England's clash in Donetsk next week but for now, the Three Lions will focus on Sweden.

Ibrahimovic will be the danger man for England this Friday and his predatory instinct was there for all to see in the 51st minute when he prodded home.

His strike brought the game to life after an quiet first half in which Ibrahimovic's header struck the post in the only real chance of the first 45 minutes.

Ukraine fell behind on 51 minutes when Kim Kallstrom found Ibra, who prodded home to give Sweden the lead.

But from there, it turned into the Sheva show.

Ukraine won their first ever match at the European Championships - playing in only their second ever major tournament - and it was down to the former Chelsea man.

First, he powered home a fierce header three minutes after Sweden's opener. But he was not finished there - just after the hour mark and following some clever movement, he evaded his marker to plant a second header in the back of the net.

The goals stunned Sweden but there was still time for them to get back in it - but Johan Elmander fluffed his lines.

Elmander burst through and he seemed destined to grab a late equaliser but he fired high and wide - leaving Shevchenko to grab the headlines.
