David Beckham is already looking forward to the possibility of winning his 102nd cap for England in Trinidad after enjoying an emotional night at Wembley.

Beckham was presented with a special 'golden cap' before last night's 2-0 friendly victory over the United States to mark his achievement of completing a century of appearances for the Three Lions.

But the LA Galaxy midfielder is determined it will not end there - and the next opportunity to increase his haul comes in Port of Spain on Sunday.

Beckham said: "I’m enjoying each game as it comes and playing one game at a time and I want to carry on playing for my country. Things can change very quickly but the manager has already said if I stay fit and I’m performing then I have a chance to be in the squad. That’s great.

"It's Trinidad next, we’ll be leaving on a 10-hour flight almost straight away and I’m looking forward to the trip. We’re looking forward to playing over there and it’s going to be a good experience."

Beckham certainly had a good experience against the States at Wembley.  He played the first 45 minutes, set up John Terry's opening goal with a free-kick and relished his pre-match presentation, too.

He said: “I was honoured to reach 100 caps in France and then to come back here and get 101 and also receive a golden cap from Sir Bobby Charlton, who is obviously my dad’s hero and my hero, was fantastic. I was very honoured by that."

Beckham also paid tribute to captain-for-the-night Terry, who put aside last week's Champions League disappointment when he missed a penalty in the final against Manchester United to perform heroically for the Three Lions.

Becks said: “John Terry is a great captain, no-one can take that away from him.  Just because of his disappointment last week doesn’t change him as a person or as a player. He is still going to be a top class player, a top class captain and a great guy as well.

“We were all happy he scored the goal and that he put in a performance like he did. He’s still going to be hurting of course but he’ll get over it. It will take time but he’ll get over it.”
