England now sit five points behind group leaders Croatia, and in third place behind Russia.
But McClaren was quick to play down rumours of a dressing room argument with Wayne Rooney, saying all the players are fully focused on putting things right, starting with a win over Andorra on Wednesday.
McClaren said: "My desire is greater than ever. Everybody knows what we must do and we know in what direction we are going.
"The players are as disappointed as everybody else and they understand the fans reaction.
"People are just trying to disturb things and we are angry and disappointed.
"What happens in the dressing room is private and I don't discuss that. But a rift between me and Wayne Rooney is absolutely ridiculous.
"If it's true then you can accept it, but it's an absolute load of rubbish. The belief and togetherness of the squad and the staff has never been better.
"Everybody is together and knows what we have to do and we have got to start doing it. We have to win against Andorra and we have to win against Estonia.
"We still have to play Russia twice and Croatia at home. It always boils down to these big games."
