Brian Eastick's side grab a late winner thanks to a late winner from Everton's young striker James Vaughan.

18-year-old James Vaughan has been named as TheFA.com's 'England Player of the Weekend' after sealing Everton's crucial 2-0 win over West Ham at Goodison Park on Sunday.

The Everton striker became the Premiership's youngest goalscorer in April 2005 when he scored against Crystal Palace, but has since been very unfortunate with a serious knee injury.

The road to recover has been a long one for the exiting young striker, but this goal, together with a late winner for the U19s last month, are his reward for all his hard work and determination to return.

Everton boss David Moyes was especially pleased to see Vaughan back firing again after missing out completely last season.

Moyes said: “The lad has lost over a year of the important early stages of his career. It has taken a lot of hard work for him to get back, he’s a willing lad and determined to do well. I am very pleased for him.”

Gary Neville was again firing for Manchester United down the right hand side, along with his teammates he produced yet another performance of pace and quality.

The Red Devils made up for their 4-1 defeat at the Riverside last season with a victory that put them six points ahead of Chelsea, although the West London side now have a game in hand having not played at the weekend.

Steven Gerrard was pivotal in Liverpool's impressive victory at Wigan Athletic, surging to a 4-0 lead at half time with attacking football of real pace and cutting edge.
