Steve McClaren Post Match

England Head Coach Steve McClaren gives his thoughts on England's 5-0 victory over Andorra at Old Trafford.

Steve McClaren says his England side can go into Wednesday's game against Macedonia full of confidence after beating Andorra 5-0 in their opening European Championship qualifier.

Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch both scored twice, while Steven Gerrard was also on target as the Three Lions cruised to victory at Old Trafford.

And Head Coach McClaren believes the result has set the squad up perfectly for a sterner test in Macedonia in midweek.

"We handled this game very well and the players did eveything that was asked of them," McClaren said.

"We controlled the tempo of the game, we stayed patient, never got frustrated and scored our goals at the right time and maybe could have had even more.

"We did well, but Macedonia away is another game and will be a different test. It will be a challenge and a test of character to see if we can go away from home and control a game and get the win.

"It will be difficult, but they way we performed last time against Greece and then with this result, we can go to Macedonia full of confidence."
