Wayne Rooney has received the backing from former England Manager Sir Bobby Robson in the poll to find England's Player of the Year 2005.
Voting for the award closes on Monday 31 January at midnight, and Rooney will be hoping that England supporters casting their votes will agree with Sir Bobby.
“My decision would be Rooney, no doubt about it. I think a lot of our hopes rest on him and he has played so well for England in 2005.
Wayne made his mark in the first competitive match of the year, his part in the 4-0 win over Northern Ireland was crucial - inspiring England to four second half goals, although he failed to get on the scoresheet himself.
Perhaps the only surprise is that Wayne only scored two goals during the year, against Denmark and Argentina, but his overall performances have drawn widespread praise.
Sir Bobby was also impressed by the development of Rooney last year: "He was outstanding two years ago in Euro 2004 as well and since then he’s got more experienced and he’s got better and better.
"I think he’s a genius so he certainly would be my choice.”

FAN'S VIEW:
"It's the year where Joe Cole really established himself as a regular in the England team, he's definitely the most improved player of the year, he also scored goals in important matches.
"Particularly in the games against Northern Ireland at home and Wales away.
"Generally the whole England team picks itself, but Joe Cole made a huge impact when he joined the forces and has become more mature as time goes by. It's definitely Joe Cole for me."
