Confident England Head Coach Sven-Goran Eriksson says there is no need to fear anyone when the World Cup draw is made in Leipzig tonight.
England fans across the world will be glued to their television sets excitedly waiting to see who the Three Lions will face in next year’s World Cup Finals.
But, as you might expect, ultra-cool Sven says he will show no nerves as he awaits his fate - because he has ultimate confidence in his players to beat anyone in the world.
As one of the seeds England cannot face the likes of Brazil, Argentina or France until the next stage, but whoever comes out of the pot England are ready.
"If you want to win it you have to beat them all," said Sven. "And if you look at the list I don’t think we need to be afraid of anybody, absolutely not. I think they are as afraid of us as we are of them - and the right word for us is not afraid, it’s respect.
"Of course you have to have respect if you meet Brazil, Argentina, or Holland. And you have to play very well, but I know we can do that.
"I think we are technically better than we were in the previous two tournaments, much better and much more experienced."
Sven has already guided the Three Lions to the quarter-finals of the World Cup in 2002 and to the last eight of Euro 2004, and he is determined to go even further this time.
"If you look at players like Rooney, Owen, Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, the centre-halves, Ashley Cole, Gary Neville. These players are right up there, they can compete with any player out there," said Sven.
"I know I said the same before Euro 2004, but I’m more convinced today, much more convinced than I was then.
"If all our players hit form it will be difficult to beat us. I think we can win it, I have always said that. We are one of four sides who can win it."
The excitement for fans tonight will be almost unbearable as the World Cup begins in earnest and England’s opponents for the summer of 2006 are decided.
But having finished top of their qualifying group and beaten Argentina so recently, the Three Lions are not in the mood to panic. There is excitement, yes, but nerves? No chance!
"No, I’m not nervous before the draw because you can’t do anything about it," added Sven. "You have to sit there and hope for the best.
"I remember last time in Japan it was awful. The last one in the group was Nigeria and we already had Argentina and Sweden. At that time Adam Crozier was sitting next to me and I bet that Nigeria would come out - and it did!
"If you asked me the worst case scenario this time I would say Holland, because they are the best team not seeded, Australia and the United States.
"But at the World Cup you have to be up for every game and it won’t be easy no matter who you face. I think in Germany you won’t see many results like three or four nil. I think it will be very tight games, whether it’s famous teams or not famous teams. We have to be ready and we will be."
