With the World Cup qualifiers coming up, England captain David Beckham has revealed that he has no intention of following Jason Robinson's footsteps and quitting the international scene.
Beckham has been in fine form for Real Madrid recently, creating three goals in his past two matches as the Bernabeu outift turn around an indifferent start to the season.
Robinson, the Rugby World-Cup winning winger, has decided to spend more time with his family despite captaining the England side last season.
But Beckham is determined to maintain his sigh standards and lead England to glory.
"It is important for me to have four or five more years in football," said Beckham. "My family is the most important thing for me, of course, but I am with them every day."
Beckham's contract in Madrid expires in two years, but he is keen to remain at the club beyond that and finish his career with the most successful club in European football.
"There was talk of me talking to the club about my contract," added Beckham.
"We have spoken about a meeting in the next month or two months, but we will have to wait.
"At the moment we have a lot of matches, I have still got this year and another year here.
"The club have talked about signing a new deal and I am happy to do so. Life is perfect here and I am happy to stay.
"I am trying to learn as much Spanish as I can, I have always said learning it is important, I will get there, but I need time. I promise that I am trying hard."
