In the wake of the disaster, which has claimed so many lives in Asia, Sven-Göran Erikson has expressed his support for any efforts that world football might be able to make to help.

"Of course I support the idea - I would happily give any help I can," he confirmed.

"If I could do something which would help raising money I would do it at once.

"Football is something which involves all the world, especially if you’re in England - they see FA Cup games and Premier League games all over the world.

"I think English football has been very good. The Premier League sent money, many clubs did it as well, and I’m sure individual players did it as well -  of course in a situation like this everyone should try to help.

"I’ve been in Indonesia - it’s a beautiful part of the world . Seeing that more than 150,000 people lost their lives – it’s incrediblly sad."

It has been suggested that the England Head Coach may be involved in coaching one of the teams in any FIFA organised match. Sven would be very willing to do so.

"Of course, if they want me to do that I’m more than happy to do it," he said.
