Post-Match: Wayne Rooney
England goalscorer Wayne Rooney is happy with his goal but disappointed with defeat to Denmark in Copenhagen.

Wayne Rooney believes England’s defeat in Denmark is all part of his steep learning curve and has vowed to come out of it stronger.

Rooney scored his first goal for England since Euro 2004 in Copenhagen but wasn’t able to enjoy it as the Three Lions lost 4-1.

Now the Manchester Unitedstar says he never wants to go through that again.

He said: "I am a bit shocked. To lose 4-1 in any game is disappointing when you consider the talent we have. We should not lose 4-1 in any game but you can't take credit away from Denmark they played well.

"We just seemed to fall apart in the second-half. It was just about the worst game I have had for England so far.

"But it is part of my learning curve. I know it is a bad result but it is a good experience, which will only help me in the future. The lads are all disappointed in the dressing room. Hopefully we can come back in two weeks' time and put that result behind us."

Rooney isn’t used to losing with England because the Three Lions have never lost a qualifying match under Sven-Goran Eriksson and the United man has been a lucky talisman. Now he says he doesn’t want to experience it again for a long, long time.

He said: "I don't want to feel like this again. It is horrible. To lose by one is bad enough. To lose 4-1 to Denmark it is very hard."

And he has also vowed that his partnership with Jermain Defoe will improve against Wales in two weeks’ time.

He added: "Jermain is a good player. We didn't get it going tonight, it was a difficult game for both of us because we didn't really get the ball. Hopefully in the next qualifier we will do a lot better."
