Healy broke English hearts with his giantkilling goal in Belfast, earning the Irish an amazing 1-0 victory at Windsor Park.

The Leeds United striker admits he will be celebrating for a long time to come, but hopes England will recover.

He said: "It hasn’t sunk in what I have done yet, but it’s a great feeling. This result will go down in history.

"For us to beat England with the likes of David Beckham, Michael Owen and Steven Gerrard was just unbelievable.

"It must be hard for England to take, but they are good enough. They have the players to bounce back and I’m sure they will.

"I would like to see England qualify still. It would be nice to have somebody representing the Home Nations in the World Cup and I want them to do it. But for now I am just enjoying what we have achieved.

"I think this Northern Ireland team will go down in history. The result will be remembered for a long, long time."
