Southgate still hoping

Gareth Southgate is still hoping to secure a place in the England's Euro 2004 squad, despite a knee injury which has ended his hopes of playing for Middlesbrough again this season.
The veteran England centre-back had only just returned to training with Boro following a jaw problem when he strained the medial ligaments in his right knee on Tuesday.
The club's medical staff have since confirmed that Southgate will not play again this season and have fitted a protective brace which he is likely to have to wear for five weeks.
A disappointed Southgate told the club's official website: "I hope to recover from the injury in time to make myself available for the European Championships."
TheFA.com wishes him a speedy recovery.
