Just before half-time, Zinedine Zidane hit a fierce drive which Franco could only parry. Ronaldo latched onto the ball and crossed for captain Raúl to slot home with ease.
The Brazilian superstar turned from provider to scorer ten minutes after the break. Portuguese winger Luis Figo played a lovely measured ball through to the no. 11 and he beat Franco at the near post.
With 73 minutes gone, Ronaldo got his second assist of the match when he sent over a left to right cross which an unmarked Beckham headed past 'keeper Leo Franco to put the tie beyond doubt.
After the game, Beckham was delighted with his home debut: "I've said playing out there was going to be a special occasion and a special feeling but it can't get any better than that for a debut," he said.
"I felt comfortable as soon as I walked onto the pitch. The crowd were great with me and the players are great as well.
"It's nice to be accepted and welcomed as well as I have been. Joining this team with a great team spirit showed it out there," he continued.
The England captain was also optimistic over how playing for Real will improve his game in the long run.
"I hope I'll become a better player; you know in this team, in Spain - it's up there with the best if not the best.
Sunday's away leg saw Beckham somewhat isolated in a deep-lying midfield role. For this match, Queiroz decided to jig his formation a little, pushing Beckham forward a little and getting him more involved in play.
"I think the coach decided to move things around and to do something different, but the fact I've played on the right before helps," the former Manchester United man said.
"To get a headed-in goal is special for me, I don't know when I last scored one."
