Sinclair signs in at City

The 30 year old, who has collected 11 England caps, signed a four-year agreement at the City of Manchester Stadium.

Sinclair began his career in 1990 after signing his first professional contract with Blackpool. A move to London and QPR followed three years later, and Sinclair would soon gain a reputation as a pacy and versatile winger. Linking up well with Les Ferdinand he made many of the countries top managers look up and take note - including then England manager, Terry Venables.

Though, called up to the national side a number of times in the late 90s, Sinclair would have to wait six years for his first appearance. Meanwhile, a dip in form at Loftus Road provided Harry Redknapp with an opportunity to take him east to the Hammers at a knock-down price of £2.3m in January 1998.

In five and a half years at Upton Park, 'Tricky Trev' became a firm favourite with the fans scoring 38 times. He finally made his breakthrough to the England team when Sven brought him on in to make his debut in the November 2001 friendly with Sweden at Old Trafford.

A late replacement for the injured Danny Murphy also gave him the opportunity to play on the World stage. Though he was left out of England's first match in Korea and Japan, he featured in the four remaining games against Argentina, Nigeria, Denmark and Brazil.

The season that followed, his last with the Hammers, ended in disappointment as his side were relegated on the final day. Today's move hands Sinclair an instant return to the top-flight and he'll meet with his new team mates before his first game for the club in a pre-season game in Denmark.
