Leicester is a city with a rich history which is not only evident in the city's arcitecture but also in the character of its people. Also, it is a city of diversity, offering visitors the benefits of a cosmopolitan environment.

Leicester's history goes back to the Iron Age when the original inhabitants, the Corieltauvi, gave their name to the settlement of the conquering Romans - Ratae Corieltauvorum. 

The new town prospered as a trading centre on the famous Fosse Way and evidence of this remarkable Roman past can still be found in the modern city - where mosaics,walls and baths can all still be seen.

Just beyond the city boundary lie almost one thousand acres of beautiful wild moorland and ancient woods - a great way to get away from the town centre. In this area it is possibly to see fantastic widlife - including deer - and visit the ruins of Lady Jane Grey's house.

An important aspect of Leicester's appeal is that it is a multi-cultural city and this characteristic shows itself in the great cuisine, music and culture of the city.
