The England captain says that confidence in the camp is sky high following the amazing victory against Argentina on Friday.
David Beckham, speaking at the England training camp in Awaji Island today (see our video section for footage), praised the performance of every member of the team.
"We were fighting for every ball against Argentina, from David Seaman right through to the front two. But we have been on a high since.
"I could not have asked for it be to be more satisfying than it was. If someone had given me a script before telling me we would win and I would score I wouldn't have believed them. To score the goal was pretty surreal.
"It has boosted the confidence. We beat one of the best teams in the world." But the captain alos echoed his coach in urging caution for the upcoming game against Nigeria.
"If we slip up now it would be ridiculous.
"I said before you have to believe you can do well and go all the way. Of course we are not getting carried away - there are still a lot of big games. But there have been a lot of shock results."
Beckham was happy to re-ive the dramatic moment when his penalty gave England a lead against Argentina which they defended to the last man.
"As soon as the referee blew, I thought `Oh my God!' - I knew I would be taking it and obviously there was a bit of pressure to score after what happened in other games.
"It was important to take it, but I could not get my breath at one point. There was two or three minutes between the ref giving it and taking it and it was pretty intimidating at the end in front of the Argentinian fans.
"I never get nervous taking penalties or free-kicks - but I was nervous with this one."
