England's opening World Cup opponents Sweden may be without one of their stalwarts, folllowing the news that Hakan Mild has damaged his heel in training.

The Wimbledon midfielder, who scored Sweden's goal in the recent friendly at Old Trafford against England, is now a real doubt for the World Cup Finals.

"Hakan was injured during a training game against a local team at the Resunda and Sweden doctor Magnus Forssblad says it looks bad," said joint coach Lars Lagerback.

"We have not yet decided if and who will replace Mild. First of all we will complete Wednesday's training and of course have more talks with Mild and doctor Forssblad."
