The Southampton left-back has been hugely impressive in the Premiership this season and was given the nod by Eriksson to make his debut in the Amsterdam Arena last month.

"It was dream come true for me," reflected Bridge, demonstrating the same level of composure in front of the cameras as has done on the pitch.

"I thought I defended quite well and got forward when I could. When I got back to the training ground at Southampton all the lads were clapping me.

"Now I'm just hoping to get another game and, if I do, to do as well as I can."

The focus is now beginning to shift to the summer and Bridge could not hide his excitement at the prospect of a possible World Cup appearance in Korea and Japan.

"I'd love to go to the World Cup," he said with widening eyes, before reminding himself of the way in which he can get there.

"I'll concentrate on playing well for my club and try to take any chances that comes my way at international level."

Bridge also revealed that the excellent team spirit within the England camp had helped him to settle in during the 1-1 draw with Holland.

"I was a bit nervous at first the last time out but all the players were really friendly which was good and helped me to fit in.

"Then, when the whistle went, I got into it pretty quickly."

He and Sven will no doubt be hoping for more of the same should Bridge get another chance to impress on Wednesday night.
