"Sven is a very good listener," said Grip, speaking at the England training camp in Chester in as the team prepare for the sold out clash against Finland at Anfield on Saturday.

"He has said to the players that if there is something they would like to know or a change they would like in training then he would listen to them and see if it would be good to change.

"He is very calm but he is decisive as well. He has to pick 11 players, and that is tough to do. But you have to do that as a manager. You cannot be afraid of it.

Whilst Eriksson is adjusting to the role of England Head Coach, Grip has previous experience on the international stage, as Coach of the Sweden team which reached the Semi-finals of the World Cup in 1994, and went on to finish third.

"To be a national coach is very different from managing a club," says Grip. "You don't have that daily work with players and you also have to play them in their club positions because you can't change them in a couple of days.

"They need to be comfortable in their positions. Some of the younger players in the squad can feel insecure. If you put them in the wrong positions then they could be more insecure."
