England skipper says Three Lions will bide their time against Moldova
Steven Gerrard is confident England will be able to break down a determined Moldova in their World Cup qualifier in Chisinau on Friday night.
Roy Hodgson's side will be favourites against opponents ranked 141st in the world, but with World Cup Finalists Holland failing to score more than once in either of their Euro 2012 qualifiers against the Moldovans, Gerrard is adamant the Three Lions will not be over-confident heading into the encounter.
But he says that the squad's Premier League experience could prove crucial in the first match on the road to Brazil 2014.
Gerrard said: "It can be difficult to break sides down but the good thing is that we have a squad that is used to that.
"We play for top teams and play with sides that have eleven behind the ball and make life difficult for you.
"We need to be patient, and it doesn't matter when or how we score as long as we do.
"The idea this week is to get six points [with a game against Ukraine to come] but the important thing is to focus on Moldova. We are confident we have the players who can get the three points."
