Defender knows what to expect in Cardiff, after playing there in 2005.

England head to Cardiff on Saturday where they will resume their European Championship qualifying campaign with an international derby against Wales.

The last time England made the same trip was back in 2005 when a Joe Cole goal proved enough to win three points for the Three Lions in what was a tight game throughout during qualifying for the 2006 World Cup.

One man who featured that day and is likely to play again at the weekend is defender Ashley Cole, who is expecting a similarly tricky test for Fabio Capello's men on this occasion.

"When we played them last time, it was a totally different team, but whenever you play Wales, Scotland or Ireland, it's always going to be a tough game," he said, talking exclusively to FATV.

"The atmosphere will be electric and no team will want to lose.

"We know we have to keep going in the qualification table now and keep picking up points.

"It's a big game for us and we have to win."

One player from the opposition who has caught Cole's eye of late is Tottenham Hotspur's Gareth Bale, who is in-line to feature on Saturday after recovering from injury over the last few weeks.

"He's been fantastic," noted Cole.

"What he's done this season and last season has shown how good he is and how important it is to have confidence in football."
