FULL TIME

89'SubstitutionOff, Wayne Rooney. On, Andy Carroll. Rooney leaves the field to generous applause from the England faithful.

88'A snap-shot from Earnshaw on the turn is watched and gathered well by Hart.

86'As we enter the final five minutes, it looks as though Wales will push hard for the equaliser.

85'SubstitutionOff, Jack Collison. On, Andy King.

83'Earnshaw tries to make amends for his earlier miss, but curls an effort past the angle of post and bar.

81'Hart makes a terrific stop from Gunter, but the referee's whistle had already blown for offside.

79'SubstitutionOff, Stewart Downing. On, Adam Johnson.

77'Wales will not get a better chance to equalise. Blake knocks Ledley's ball into the box back across the face of goal where Robert Earnshaw is lurking, unmarked. Somehow, though, the substitute manages to knock the ball over the bar from a matter of yards.

75'Bale hits a dipping 25-yard free-kick from a central position but it doesn;t quite dip enough for his liking and it remains England 1-0 Wales.

73'SubstitutionOff, Frank Lampard jnr. On, Scott Parker.

68'SubstitutionOff, Steve Morison. On, Robert Earnshaw.

65'Hennessey fails to claim Downing's deep free-kick and the loose ball falls to Gary Cahill who fires over.

61'Frank Lampard shoots over from the edge of the box after being played in by Barry.

60'Bale evades the attention of Cole out on the Wales right, but he is always going away from goal. He eventually does get his shot away, although it just sails over Hart's bar.

57'Chris Smalling does well to get up above Morison at the far post to head Bale's cross out for a corner.

46'Young tests Wayne Hennessey from a tight angle within seconds of the restart, but the Wolves 'keeper parries. Gareth Barry eventually fires the ball over the bar.

46'Wales kick off the second half.

HALF TIME

40'A chance for England to double their lead with half-time approaching. Young whips a delicious cross into the area but Rooney can't arch his neck enough to connect and the ball zips past the far post.

35'Goal scoredAshley Young. The deadlock is broken by Manchester United's impressive new recruit. Downing does brilliantly to get past Joe Ledley before pulling the ball back to Young, who turns home at the near post.

33'Chris Gunter capitalises when an England move breaks down and raids down the inside right flank. He advances to just outside the box but slices his shot well wide.

28'Stewart Downing acrobatically fires over from Young's clipped ball to the back post.

27'After a slow start, Wales have started to grow into the game and have enjoyed a fair share of the ball in the last few minutes.

20'Yellow cardJames Milner. The Man City midfielder is booked for a late lunge on Bale. Some neat footwork from the Tottenham man before the foul, though.

15'Steve Morison lashes harmlessly wide from an acute angle after giving Terry trouble with a long ball forward by Blake.

11'Half-chance for Wales as Ashley Williams heads Gareth Bale's in-swinging free-kick wide of Joe Hart's goal.

08'After a low, teasing cross from Ashley Cole is turned behind by Darcy Blake, John Terry heads Ashley Young's subsequent corner just wide.

04'England dominating possession early on, although they have yet to carve out a clear opening.

KOWayne Rooney and James Milner get this all-British Euro 2012 qualifier underway.
