75'SubstitutionOff, Glen Johnson. On, David Beckham. England follow suit, with Beckham replacing Johnson.

74'SubstitutionOff, Yevgeniy Averchenko. On, Vyacheslav Erbes. Kazakhstan make their second change of the match. Erbes is on for Averchenko.

72'Goal scoredWayne Rooney. Wayne Rooney scores his sixth goal in this World Cup Qualifying campaign. Glen Johnson raids down the right and his cross finds Rooney at the back post. His initial effort is superbly clawed away by Mokin, but he is helpless to prevent Rooney from hooking home the rebound.

69'Backed by a vocal following in the Central Stadium, Kazakhstan are hassling and pressing England in every area of the pitch, putting together some good moves when they have the ball themselves. Right back, Alexandr Kislitsyn, bends a left-foot shot wide.

63'Kazakhstan skipper, Alexandr Karpovich, curls a free-kick narrowly over the bar. The score remains 2-0 to England.

56'Skorykh attempts to drag Kazakhstan back into the game with an effort from distance, but he slices the ball well wide of Robert Green's goal.

54'After Rooney wins the ball well on the edge of the box, Gerrard drives the ball goalwards, but it lacks control and direction and doesn't trouble Mokin.

49'England have started the second period in confident fashion, controlling possession, but they have yet to create a clear opportunity.

46'England get the second half up and running.

46'SubstitutionOff, Theo Walcott. On, Shaun Wright-Phillips. The Three Lions have a new right winger in the shape of Wright-Phillips. He replaces Theo Walcott.

45'Goal scoredEmile Heskey. Heskey doubles England's lead after Mokin fails to deal with Gerrard's deep cross. The ball deflects off Skorykh and wrong-foots the Kazakhstan 'keeper. He palms the ball away, but it falls invitingly to Heskey and he makes it 2-0 to England.

HALF TIME

40'Goal scoredGareth Barry. With half-time looming, Gareth Barry gives England the lead with a well-placed header. Lampard finds Gerrard with a short corner and the Liverpool skipper produces a delicious left foot cross which finds Barry at the back post. He calmly nods the ball beyond Mokin and into the back of the net.

39'Kukeyev sends in another free-kick from the right, but England manage to clear.

34'England's fleet-footed winger, Theo Walcott, uses his pace for the first time in the match. He skips past two Kazakhstan midfielders and advances down the right wing, only to be stopped by Logvinenko's sliding tackle.

29'A poor clearance from Mokin falls to Emile Heskey. He brings Rooney into play, who, in turn finds Lampard. The Chelsea man feeds Heskey once more and he forces Mokin into a fine save, tipping the ball on to the post. It was England's best chance of a scrappy opening half an hour.

27'SubstitutionOff, Sergey Ostapenko. On, Sabrykhan Ibrayev. Ibrayev comes on for the injured Ostapenko.

23'After a minor stoppage, due to an injury to Ostapenko, play resumes in the Kazakhstan half. Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney exchange passes on the edge of the area, but the Manchester United man shoots high and wide.

17'Kukeyev floats a free-kick to the back post where Ostapenko climbs highest to head goalwards. The ball enters the net, but the Assistant Referees' flag is raised for offside.

16'Yellow cardGareth Barry. Manchester City's newest recruit receives a yellow card for a pull on Kukeyev. He will subsequently miss England's next match against Andorra through suspension.

10'Yellow cardTanat Nuserbayev. The midfielder is booked for blocking Frank Lampard's free-kick. When the free-kick is eventually taken, it is headed over the bar by Matthew Upson.

01'England suffer a very early scare, straight from the kick-off. Glen Johnson was disposessed by Zhambyl Kukeyev, who centred for Ostapenko, but John Terry and Robert Green combine to avert the danger.

KOKazakhstan get the game underway in Almaty.
