Steven Caulker hoping to take his England chance for World Cup double-header
Steven Caulker is relishing the chance to make another impression under Roy Hodgson ahead of England's World Cup qualifying double-header against San Marino and Montenegro.
The 21-year-old, who has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Spurs this season, was promoted to the senior squad from the Under-21s after Rio Ferdinand, Gary Cahill and club colleague Michael Dawson all pulled out.
Caulker marked his Three Lions debut with a goal against Sweden back in November and he is hoping to make the most of a "massive opportunity" over the next week.
He told Tottenham's official website: "There are so many good centre-halves in England, so to get called up into the senior side like this is brilliant and a great chance to hopefully learn and progress.
"This is a massive opportunity and a massive moment for me.
"Naturally, it is a break that I must ensure I take full advantage of so I'm working hard in training and hoping for same game time.
"I know I'm young and I'm still learning but I am determined not to rest on my one cap so every call-up, every training camp takes me closer to that dream."
