Bayern Munich's Bastian Schweinsteiger hails Jack Wilshere as one of the world's best

Bastian Schweinsteiger has hailed Jack Wilshere as one of the best midfielders in the world.

The Bayern Munich and Germany star is preparing to face Arsenal in the Champions League at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

And he is looking forward to facing England ace Wilshere, whose form for club and country has impressed since his return from a long-term injury this season.

The 28-year-old said: "In his position he is one of the best players there is, he is an excellent player.

"After he was out for so long, he is back now and showing his form."

With 97 caps for Germany to his name and as vice-captain for the Bavarian giants, Schweinsteiger is one of his country's most celebrated players.

And he believes that Wilshere, 21,  has the right attributes to be one of England's best players of his generation.

He added: "It has a lot to do with his size.

"Your typical English player is over six foot - I would say that with Jack Wilshere he has different movements.

"He is dynamic, he has a good left foot and he has a good eye for the players around him. Those are his talents."

Arsenal take on Bayern for a place in the last eight of the Champions League, with the first game at the Emirates on Tuesday before the return leg in Germany on 13 March.
