Three Lions' frontmen had a productive day in the Premier League

Saturday was largely a good one for England strikers in the Premier League.

Theo Walcott starred for Arsenal in their hard-earned 1-0 win over Stoke City and was fouled for the free-kick that gave Lukas Podolski the chance to score the only goal of the game.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said: “Theo had to deal with a lot of physical challenges and he coped very well. I think he showed from his reaction how he has developed as a player.”

Elsewhere, Wayne Rooney continued his impressive goalscoring run with the only strike of the match to hand Manchester United a 1-0 win at Fulham to stay top of the Premier League table.

And Swansea manager Michael Laudrup admitted that England forward Andy Carroll was the difference as the Liverpool loanee headed the winning goal for West Ham at Upton Park.

Carroll's power finally broke the deadlock as he headed the winner five minutes from time.

Laudrup said: "It could have gone either way. They had two good chances in first half through Kevin Nolan. But Carroll scored a great goal and was difficult to mark.”

Meanwhile, Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert was left purring by Gabriel Agbonlahor’s goal that helped his side to a 3-3 draw at high-flying Everton.

Agbonlahor’s pace caused David Moyes’s side problems all afternoon, and he got forward well to head home Ashley Westwood’s cross midway through the first half.

Lambert said: "I thought we played really well throughout the game. Coming here, nobody gave us a chance.

"We came here and I thought we played really, really well. Gabby's goal was top-class."
